Green Tea for Health Benefits

It is startling to know that the world is just awakening to realize the many health benefits of green tea. Although most of us may have had the opportunity to sip on the beverage in a Chinese restaurant or at a Japanese neighbors house not many of us outside the orient knew anything about the various health benefits of green tea up until recently.

This unique drink is a real gift found in nature. It is made from the leaves of a plant called Camellia sinesis. It is a native shrub of Asia and the tea is prepared by drying the leaves of this shrub.

The Asians have been making use of green tea for medicinal purposes since ages. A recorded history of the use of green tea in China dates back to over four thousand years.

With the advancement in medical science the specialists were able to test the substance for its alleged qualities. Much to their amazement that Chinese had been right all along as science discovered many brilliant health benefits of green tea.

The shrub was genetically potent in a variety of substances that could work many health benefits in the human body. Green tea is particularly potent in a variety of antioxidants.

Green teas antioxidants have been tested to be at least twenty five times more effective than Vitamin C and work much better for cellular protection and DNA structure preservation than Vitamin E.

There are a host of diseases that can be prevented and even cured by making use of green tea. The drink can help prevent some of the most dangerous diseases that can afflict the human body such as cancer and HIV. On its own green tea also helps to improve the immune system in general.

The list of diseases that green tea has the potential to treat includes diseases the likes of Alzheimers disease, rheumatoid arthritis, heart diseases and even Parkinsons disease.

Amongst the latest uses of green tea is that for weight loss. Health care professionals have realized that green tea can actually help speed up the bodys metabolism and assist in the process of losing weight. Hence we find that green tea has numerous health benefits for the human body and should be incorporated in our daily routine.
