Different Methods for Conceiving a Girl Child
There are as many methods as their are old wives tales for trying to conceive a girl, some say that you should have intercourse as close to ovulation as possible and other’s tell you to that you will only be successful if you timing it around 4 days or earlier from ovulation, so how do you know which one is right?
This article will look at some of the more popular gender selection methods for conceiving a girl and their success rates so you can decide which one is best for you.
Method: Shettles
By far the most well known method for conceiving a girl or boy baby is the Shettles Method. It relies on timing and says that for a girl you should aim to have intercourse at least five to three days before you ovulate and no sooner as this gives the stronger female sperm a greater chance of surviving long enough to fertilize the egg.
The Shettles Method boasts a 77% success rate for getting pregnant with a female child.
Method: Whelan
When it comes to timing, the Whelan method is the exact opposite of when the Shettles Method says you must do your lovemaking. The Whelan method says that to get a girl baby you should have intercourse on the day you see your temperature rise (you need to chart your basal body temperature for this method to be successful) as that gives the best chance of falling pregnant with a female child.
There is a 57% success rate for getting a girl baby with the Whelan method.
The O+12 Method
The O+12 Method is gaining popularity with those couples trying for a girl. This method (which is similar to the Whelan method) says that you should aim to have sex around 8 to 20 hours after ovulation (with 12 hours after ovulation being the most successful) if you want a girl.
The O+12 Method is said to have a 90% success rate (although no clinical trials have ever been done using this as it is very difficult to pinpoint the exact ovulation time unless you have an ultrasound machine).
